The iCare story originally began with the development of the rebound tonometer. It was a major breakthrough obtained after a decade of hard work by Finnish MD, Mr. Antti Kontiola, who wanted to find a new, easy and patient-friendly method of measuring intraocular pressure.
The realization of the rebound method and its equipment has involved a number of partners, including the Helsinki University Eye Clinic in the clinical testing, and the Mount Sinai Medical School in the US in developing the veterinary modification of the instrument.
Today the iCare® tonometer has obtained world wide official clearances (CE, US FDA, CFDA etc.) and tens of thousands of satisfied users in over 75 countries. Clinical studies show that the data obtained by iCare® is fully comparable to measuring results with the Goldman Applanation Tonometer (GAT).
iCare Finland is a part of Revenio Group Corporation, a public company listed on Nasdaq Helsinki.
